Emily in Paris may not exactly be in Paris anymore, but that isn't stopping its creators from returning to the writer's room for another round of noteworthy outfits and troublesome love triangles. That's right: Emily in Paris is coming back for season five, and picking up right where season four part two left off, which is to say, Emily isn't done working (or falling in love) just yet.

"For the first time I get to talk about the fact that there will be a season five," Lily Collins told Good Morning America. "We all just found out ourselves, so it’s brand new for everyone.”

Collins, who stars in the show as its namesake character, announced the news during Emily in Paris week at Good Morning America on September 16. Following her interview, Tudum released more details, giving fans the initial sneak peek behind the curtain of the forthcoming installment. Here's everything we know so far about season five of Emily in Paris.

Given that season four part two left off with Emily relocating to Rome, fans were quick to wonder what might happen to the show's namesake city of Paris. Not to worry: Darren Star, the show's creator, was quick to dispel rumors that France would be superseded by Italy.

"We’ll spend some time in Rome. But she did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I mean, Agence Grateau opened an office in Rome. They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris."

Choosing to relocate—at least temporarily—to Rome was prompted by Star's ambition to "stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” therefore proving that “the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint.” That said, Collins told Good Morning America that she hopes that season five will see Emily exploring "more of Italy," not just Rome, seemingly confirming that the cast will travel beyond the confines of the Eternal City.

Despite the fact that season four ended with Gabriel professing his love to Emily, Collins told Tudum that he would have to "deal with the repercussions of his choice” after abandoning Emily on top of a mountain in Megève. Fair enough. Emily, meanwhile, seems to be moving on just fine when sparks fly between her and Marcello, played by Italian actor Eugenio Franceschini.

“I wanted to bring in a new love interest for Emily that would feel like a fresh start after all of the drama with Gabriel,” Star said. “Marcello comes into Emily’s life in an unexpected way and opens the door to so many possibilities for Emily: new country, new culture, new adventure.”

Collins echoed Star's sentiment, offering her own perspective on Tudum:

“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

As for that work/life balance, Emily will be busy in season five opening up the Rome offices of Agence Grateau. Whether or not she has plans to reconcile with Gabriel remains to be seen.
