Everything We Know About ‘Only Murders In The Building’ Season 5 So Far
Another one bit the dust at the end of Only Murders in the Building Season 4, and the show was renewed for a fifth season shortly after its fourth installment premiered on Hulu.
At least one new face is already set to join the cast of Season 5 of the cozy murder mystery show, which will likely feature the return of fan favorite characters. Some characters have popped back up since Season 1, which means many are fair game.

For everything we know about Only Murders in the Building Season 5, read on.
When will Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building come out?
With Season 4 having just ended, Season 5’s production schedule isn’t yet clear, but it will likely take at least a year for the new season to be filmed and edited before release. In the announcement video, Steve Martin mentioned 2025 as the goal to release.
What will Only Murders in the Building Season 5 be about?
Season 5 will investigate the death of Lester (Teddy Coluca), the Arconia doorman who was killed at the end of Season 4. Lester appeared in previous seasons of the murder mystery show in various capacities.
The poor man was left dead in a fountain he had deemed lucky on his wedding day, which long ago took place in the Arconia courtyard like Oliver’s (Martin Short) and Loretta’s (Meryl Streep) does at the end of Season 4.
The show will also explore the contrast between past New York and present New York, co-creator John Hoffman teased to Deadline.
Who will return for Only Murders in the Building Season 5?
The main trio — Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) will return. Other recurring cast members who have appeared in the show since Season 1 include Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, Jackie Hoffman as Uma and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Donna Williams.
Tea Leoni, who appeared briefly in the finale of Season 4, will likely play a bigger part in Season 5 as she approached the OG trio in the final episode of Season 4 to ask for their help in investigating the death or someone close to her. Leoni plays Sofia, wife of Nicky “The Neck” Caccimelio. She reports her husband missing (he’s tied to the Caputo crime family).
“I think she’s the great tease at the end of the finale and a little bit of an intriguing bump forward,” Hoffman told Deadline. “She’s an extension of the little news report in Episode 9 that Mabel makes note of at the hospital. [Sofia] is the wife of the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn, and maybe a couple of dry cleaning outlets in Manhattan, as well, we may come to know.”
Leoni could open up a world that hasn’t been much explored yet in the dramedy series with the connection to her husband’s reputation as the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn.

It’s not likely that killer Marshall P. Pope (Jin Ha), aka Rex Bailey, will come back as it looks like he died. But as Ha told Deadline, there’s always the chance of coming back in the tradition Paul Rudd.
