Emma Stone debuted a significant hair transformation on the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet. The award-winning actress arrived wearing a red strapless gown – an elegant custom Louis Vuitton creation – and sporting a new cropped pixie cut. The striking style was in her signature deep auburn shade.

The dramatic chop is likely for her upcoming project, Yorgos Lanthimos’ new movie, Bugonia, which she was filming last year.

Stone was first seen wearing a tight beanie in early October, causing fans to wonder if she had shaved her head for a role. Speculation increased when Stone could be seen adjusting a wig in a clip posted from the New York Film Festival on 5 October.

Stone is no stranger to hair transformations, though this is the first time we’ve seen her with hair quite this short. A natural blonde, the actress has famously had red hair for much of her career, though she did also have a stint as an ice-blonde. She also wore extra-long black waves for her role as Bella Baxter in the 2023 film Poor Things.

“It’s been growing out, and it’s looking so stunning — very ’90s in that nostalgic way,” Mara Roszak, Stone’s longtime hairstylist, told Allure. The stylist used her brand’s latest RŌZ Evergreen Styling Cream, a lightweight yet mouldable formula that smooths flyaways and boosts shine, to get Stone's red-carpet look last night. Stone also had Olaplex No7 Bonding Oil on hand, as given to her by her colourist Tracy Cunningham, to seal in gloss and reduce flyaways.

She accentuated her new cropped style with a classic earring on one side, and an intricate cuff on the other ear.
