Doritos Australia has announced a bold new flavour.

The limited first batch of Doritos Coffee, which has been described by the company as the perfect pick-me-up to battle Australia’s 3pm slump, will be released on Wednesday.

Doritos is offering Aussies the chance to try the limited first batch of Doritos Coffee flavour by giving away 25x packs per day at 3pm via a giveaway on the Doritos Instagram page.

“Each afternoon, people across the country are left disappointed by their favourite coffee shop being closed just as they need an afternoon pick-me-up,” Kat Miller, Senior Brand Manager, Doritos said.

“This is why we’re excited to announce the release of Doritos Coffee - the perfect snack to help Aussies beat the 3pm slump.”

The latest flavour follows the launch of Doritos Coriander in 2023, which sparked debate and controversy across Australia for its soapy flavour.

The chip brand’s move was met with scepticism and confusion on Instagram, where fans accused it of trying to execute a wild joke.

Australians were either repulsed or really excited.

The flavour was a controversial choice as research shows between three and 25 per cent experience a soapy taste when biting into the herb, Professor Russell Keast, from Deakin University’s Centre for Advanced Sensory Science, told SBS in 2019.

The giveaway was solely conducted through Doritos’s Instagram page, with participants having to reveal why they loved or hated coriander.
