"Thanks For Love, Privacy, And Support": Donald Glover Shared An Update On The Cancelation Of His "New World Tour"
Donald Glover is out for the rest of the year.
The Atlanta star, known by the stage name Childish Gambino, has canceled his New World Tour after revealing that he was hospitalized for an unspecified illness.
The Community alum's tour was first announced in May, just before the release of Bando Stone and the New World, his fifth and final album under the Childish Gambino moniker.
On Oct. 4, Donald shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) addressing the tour's cancellation. "After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent," he wrote. "After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and after more tests, I could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked."
The tour began in Oklahoma City on Aug. 11, before Donald postponed the North American dates due to his "physical health."
The Mr. and Mrs. Smith actor was scheduled to return on Oct. 31 in France during the European leg of the tour, but his latest update noted that has changed. "As of now, I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal," he said. "My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates."
"I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform," Donald finished. "Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support."
The New World Tour is Childish Gambino's fifth tour to support the releases of his 2024 albums, Atavista (a re-release of 3.15.20) and Bando Stone and the New World.
Wishing him a speedy recovery!
