The 'disgusting' slur that rocked the MAFS cast

Without a doubt, the couple who’s had the most troubling of relationships on Married At First Sight so far is Bronson Norrish and Ines Basic.

On Sunday night, the ‘marriage’ took another problematic turn during an extremely heated commitment ceremony that saw Bronson use offensive, and what many would say ‘disgusting’ language to describe his TV wife.

The show’s experts intervened in front of the entire group to address the c-word being used, an impulsive move Bronson says he made because his wife’s temperamental nature “just throws my emotions out of work”.

“We did the questionnaire thing. Ines was amazing that night, really amazing,” he said. “Next morning, the hulk would come out. Straight back to f***ing c***. I’m not calling her a c***, I’m saying she acts like a c***.”

No surprise, every other MAFS contestant was rocked by the comment. Cue the following shocked expressions:

The experts are not happy

“Bronson, when you use language like that in relation to a woman, how do you expect her to respond to you?” asked expert Mel Schilling.

“Someone who’s nice one minute and then bad the other, it just throws my emotions out of work,” he said.

“A tip from me to you, don’t use language like that. If you want any chance of a relationship with a woman,” Mel then said.

So what happened up to this point that pushed a usually calm Bronson to his raging limit? Let us fill you in.

Ines and Bronson were the final couple to speak to the experts during the season’s first commitment ceremony, because of course, saving the biggest drama till the end is a no-brainer.

“I’m going into the commitment ceremony with full-blown depression. I want to leave the marriage. Like I’m so emotionally, mentally drained from having this liability attached to me,” Ines said in a piece-to-camera before sitting on the couch with Bronson.

When asked by the experts how the relationship is tracking, Bronson admitted, “I’m miserable, absolutely miserable.

“First thing she said when she walked down the aisle was take that f***ing eyebrow out.”

“Who the f*** has an eyebrow ring?” Ines said in her defence, much to the dismay of the other MAFS contestants.

Bronson explained he’d been trying to make an effort to progress the relationship, but even small gestures like touching his wife’s hand were immediately rejected.

“I don’t want him f***ing touching me. I don’t want him in the same room as me. So I think that sort of like you know, says it all,” Ines told the experts.

“Guys, things have obviously fractured between you so I guess I’m just wondering, why? Why are you here at the moment?” expert Mel asked.

“I wanted to fall in love. I just wasn’t expecting it to be with that,” she claimed. “I mean, if anyone here wants to give me their husband, give it to me.”

“What Bronson says to me, I really don’t f***ing care,” said Ines. Photo: Channel Nine

Bronson shared his own frustrations.

“Everywhere I turn it’s a brick wall,” he explained.

“When she’s great, she’s great. She’s a lovely person. Really, really nice. When she turns around she’s like Jekyll and Hyde. I never know what she’s going to be.”

“Ok cool. Like what Bronson says to me, I really don’t f***ing care,” Ines responded.

Bronson continued, “We did the questionaire thing. Ines was amazing that night, really amazing… Next morning, the hulk would come out.

“Straight back to f***ing c***. I’m not calling her a c***, I’m saying she acts like a c***.”

Ines and Bronson’s rocky start

From the get go, this relationship has been built with profanity and disrespect, more so from Ines from what we’ve been shown on screen so far.

One of their most controversial scenes was the one where Ines berated Bronson while out on a boat during their honeymoon.

“I just need you to shut the f**k up right now. I need you to shut up,” she yelled. “Grow a f**king ballsack!”

Ines’ fighting words only got louder during the verbal tirade as she leaned in to intimidate.

Channel Nine recently stepped in to protect Ines from the wave of social media backlash by disabling comments on recent posts featuring her on the official MAFS Instagram account.

“We take our duty of care seriously, and vigilant social media moderation is an important part of this,” a Nine spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday.

“Due to the high volume of adverse comments on Ines’ posts, Nine’s social media team acted proactively to moderate appropriately.”

Married At First Sight continues at 7:30pm on Channel Nine.
