MAFS star Ines at centre of social media scandal

If there’s one star from Married At First Sight who’s had the internet talking, it would be Ines Basic.

The feisty 28-year-old hasn’t been afraid to speak her mind, but her harsh approach towards her relationship with Bronson hasn’t been every viewer’s cup of tea.

Now Channel Nine has stepped in to protect Ines from the wave of social media backlash by disabling comments on recent posts featuring her on the official MAFS Instagram account.

“We take our duty of care seriously, and vigilant social media moderation is an important part of this,” a Nine spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday.

“Due to the high volume of adverse comments on Ines’ posts, Nine’s social media team acted proactively to moderate appropriately.”

They also said that as per the network’s community guidelines, “We reserve the right to moderate, hide or delete any posts [including comments] from followers on our accounts” and that “posts or comments containing offensive, abusive, defamatory, SPAM or commercial messages or links to third-party pages/websites will be removed”.

Ines appears to have also restricted comments on her own Instagram account after her on-screen wedding aired on Monday night.

The legal assistant was introduced as a “real firecracker” and a “tough nut to crack”. And it didn’t take long to understand why.

“I have really high expectations of myself and other people. I’m super straight down the line and honest,” Ines said when introducing herself.

And despite Bronson’s welcoming smile, the first thing she said to him was, “Can we get rid of that eye ring”.

The drama only escalated during the couple’s honeymoon, when she repeatedly yelled at her TV husband, asking him to “shut the f**k up” while on a boat.

Married At First Sight continues at 7:30pm on Channel Nine.
