Keri Russell’s exploits as a foreign ambassador are not over yet.

“Season 3 flips the chessboard. Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want,” creator and showrunner Debora Cahn said in a statement.
All six episodes of Season 2 premiere on October 31. The upcoming season will see Kate dig deeper into the attack in London and the previous attack of a British aircraft carrier off the coast of Iran, which she now knows came from inside the British government rather than from a foreign adversary.
In her quest, she faces a fraught marriage, a complex dynamic with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and a threatening visit from Alison Janney’s newly introduced Vice President Grace Penn.
Also, speaking of her marriage, a teaser for the upcoming installment, released in September, finally revealed to audiences that Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) is alive after an explosion in the heart of London at the end of Season 1 put his life in danger.
From creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat also stars Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. It is executive produced by Janice Williams, Alex Graves, and Keri Russell.
