Did Emma Stone call Jimmy Kimmel a 'prick' at the Oscars?
Viewers have been speculating about what the Best Actress winner said.
If there's one thing people seem to love about Awards Shows these days, it's not the incredible couture or even seeing their favourite films get honoured - it's trying to figure out what A-list celebrities are saying to each other.
Take, for example, the huge stir that was caused at the Golden Globes when TikTok went into overdrive with speculation that John Krasinski had chosen the red carpet as the perfect time and place to tell his wife, Emily Blunt, that he couldn't wait to divorce her.
Or, how fans drove themselves into a frenzy trying to lip-read what Selena Gomez said to Taylor Swift during the Grammys - with many saying they thought Selena was saying that Timothée Chalamet had denied her a photo.
The 2024 Oscars were no exception to this strange new fascination as viewers debated what Emma Stone said to her husband after a montage of her film Poor Things was shown.

Following the package, Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel joked, “Those were all the parts of Poor Things that we’re allowed to show on TV" - likely in reference to the fact the film contains plenty of sex and nudity.
Some viewers were convinced she said "what a prick" (about Kimmel) in reaction to the joke, while others thought it was more likely she had simply said "oh my god".

Jimmy also joked about Emma's performance in the film saying, “Emma, you were so unbelievably great in Poor Things. Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night.”
The latter was in reference to Republican Katie Britt.
Regardless of what was said, it was a very good night for Poor Things - and for Emma herself. The film was nominated for 11 Oscars and took out the awards for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design, while Emma took out the coveted Best Actress gong.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer, which had 13 nominations, took out the award for Best Picture with Robert Downey Jr and Cillian Murphy taking home the Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor nods respectively. Christopher Nolan received the Best Directing nod for the film which also won Best Film Editing and Best Musical Score.
Despite being a huge achievement and intended to be the climax to mark the end of awards season, actor Al Pacino seemed a little confused as he announced the final nod.
Instead of reading out the other nominees - which included American Fiction, Past Lives and Killers of the Flower Moon - the legendary actor went straight to the winner saying, "My eyes see Oppenheimer.”
