“Deal or No Deal Island” star Parvati Shallow calls Dr. Will Kirby 'completely insane'

It’s not easy to upstage two Survivor champions, but if anyone can do it, it is the most infamous player in Big Brother history. Survivor: Micronesia winner Parvati Shallow and Australian Survivor victor David Genat made their Deal or No Deal Island debuts on last week’s season 2 premiere alongside the rest of the cast, but Big Brother legend Dr. Will Kirby will arrive on the scene during tonight’s episode on NBC, and he will do so in very dramatic fashion. What was Parvati’s reaction when she first saw her fellow reality TV luminary? Did game respect game? Ummm… maybe not.

“I was not impressed with Dr. Will,” Parvati says of her first reaction upon seeing him arrive in the tropical Panamanian climate. “When I see him pull up in a yacht with a tuxedo on, I'm very concerned about his fashion choices. He is clearly misaligned with the mission at hand. Like, you need a linen suit, you need shorts, you need a linen top, some sunglasses, maybe a hat. He came out here in a full tux. Wrong. I said, ‘Will, you can't wear that back to camp.’”

Judging by comments from the host and showrunner to Entertainment Weekly, Will’s opening ensemble will not be the only ridiculous thing during his stay on the Banker's Island. Take it from Parvati, who has certainly seen her fair share of crazy over the years. “Will was a complete agent of chaos,” she says.

While the two crossed paths when Kirby guest starred alongside two wolves on Parvati’s season of The Traitors, that was really all the latter knew about the former. “I've never played with Dr. Will,” says Parvati. “I've never even seen his seasons of Big Brother. But I am aware of his reputation, and he came out to The Traitors as a guest who set us up for the bug house, which was a nightmarish challenge. So that's all I know about Will.”

While she did not know a lot about him, he certainly knew a lot about her — enough to alarm the Survivor legend. “He shows up on the beach, everyone leaves the challenge, I'm the last one walking out and he goes, ‘Parvati, the Black Widow. Born September 21st, 1982. Went to Sprayberry High School, graduated at the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism.’ I was like, ‘What is happening?’ I go, ‘What's my sign? He goes, ‘Virgo.’ I was like: This man has been either stalking me for a long time or has just memorized all these trivia facts about me. I didn't know what to think about him. Is he going to want to play with me? Is he going to want to be against me?”

While throwing people off has always been Will’s strategy — witness this classic Big Brother Veto meeting speech — for a big target like Parvati, having another huge personality around had its advantages. “I was happy to have him in the game for the sheer fact that he did take some attention off of me just because he's completely insane!”

That’s about as high as the happiness goes, however. “Other than that, I think I found out very quickly that Will was just not a guy I was going to mesh with.”

That meshing — or lack thereof — begins tonight on NBC.
