The Day of the Jackal Scores Quick Season 2 Renewal at Peacock
The Day of the Jackal hit its target sooner than we thought: Peacock has renewed the Eddie Redmayne-led assassin thriller for Season 2, TVLine has learned, just eight days after its debut.
Redmayne stars as the Jackal, a highly paid hitman who hops around the globe snuffing out targets while eluding capture. Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die) co-stars as Bianca, a British intelligence officer who is determined to bring the Jackal to justice. She “starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake,” per the official synopsis.

The supporting cast includes Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) as the Jackal’s wife Nuria, along with Game of Thrones vets Charles Dance and Richard Dormer and The Crown’s Khalid Abdalla. Ronan Bennett (Top Boy) serves as writer and executive producer on the series, based on the classic Frederick Forsyth novel that inspired a number of film adaptations.
The Day of the Jackal debuted last Thursday on Peacock with the first five episodes, with Episode 6 premiering this week. (The premiere earned an “A” grade from TVLine readers; check out our recap here.) The series — a co-production with the UK’s Sky — ranked in the Top 5 of streaming originals for its opening weekend, Peacock says, and has become a runaway hit in international markets, including the UK, Australia and Ireland.
