Grimes says she 'didn't see one of my babies for 5 months' amid custody battle with Elon Musk
In her social media post, the singer also appeared to say Musk was becoming "unrecognizable" to her, "with a fraction of his resources."
Grimes is getting candid about the rough past year of her life, in which she's been locked in a custody battle with Elon Musk over their three kids — daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and sons X Æ A-Xii, 4, and Techno Mechanicus, 2.
In a recent social media post providing an update on the status of new art from the "Genesis" singer, she wrote, presumably of Musk, "Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn't have my kids and fighting and detaching from the love of my life as he becomes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/ strategy experience)."
She continued, "All the while I didn't see one of my babies for 5 months. And this is only what can be said publicly, since most of my experience these last years should remain behind closed doors."
A lawyer for Musk did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment on Grimes' remarks.

While Grimes didn't elaborate further on the custody dispute, which was resolved last week in Texas — though details on the settlement were not available, per a Business Insider report — she did have an update on her career to share with fans.
"Poetry and pure raw emotion are pouring out of my soul at a rate I've never known, and Im improving deeply as a producer past the technical and back to the art after now knowing my craft so much better," she said, adding that she's also found creative partners that she's always wanted.
While Grimes didn't give any concrete details about what exactly she's working on or when fans can expect it, she promised she has "to make what I'm making right now. And it might be upsetting and provocative to many, but it's real and the people who will feel me will feel me."

Grimes concluded her note on a positive sentiment, writing, "And all that said I'm grateful for every bullet I caught. Cuz I feel on top of the world right now. And everything that used to give me anxiety feels like child's play after all this. Ego death, ego birth - it's everything an artist could dream of."
This isn't the first time Grimes has claimed Musk didn't allow her to see her children. "Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer,” she wrote in a now-deleted post in September 2023, referencing Shivon Zilis, the mother of three of Musk’s other children. In total, Musk is a father to 12 children with three different women.
