Dyer shared a carousel of black and white photos on his Instagram, giving a behind-the-scenes look at filming – where he is standing at the front of a church in his robes in front of a congregation.

In the caption of the post, he wrote: "The Eternal Words of a Dead Verse… written and directed by my brilliant friend @gilbertkyemjnr with the wonderful @jessiebedrossian playing my daughter. Who the f*** would have thought I could play a priest eh. Coming soon."

Not much is known about the film at this stage, but according to Bedrossian’s Spotlight page, she plays a character called Rya, who is the daughter of Dyer’s character.

This is the latest project for Dyer, who left his role of Mick Carter in EastEnders in December 2022. Since then, he has starred in Channel 5 series Heat, and is set to appear in upcoming Disney+ series Rivals alongside David Tennant.

Rivals is based on the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name, and has an all-star cast which also includes Aidan Turner, Victoria Smurfit, Katherine Parkinson and Emily Atack.

Dyer also appeared on the latest episode of The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off, and fellow contestant and DJ Yinka Bokinni recently revealed what the actor was like in the famous tent.

"Danny had a mare trying to get the figure of himself into his closet,” she said, referring to his showstopper cake. "He almost had a breakdown. We had to take a breather because it just kept falling apart.

"He’s not bad [at baking]. I thought that he was going to be cutting off our fingers and adding salt and stuff. But he can make me a cake if he wants to."

There is currently no release date for The Eternal Words of a Dead Verse. The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off airs on Sunday nights on Channel 4.
