Craig Melvin to replace Hoda Kotb on ‘Today’ show

Craig Melvin will replace Hoda Kotb on the “Today” show, NBC News announced Thursday.

Melvin, who has been with the network for more than a decade, had been hosting the program’s third hour and is taking over for Kotb hosting with Savannah Guthrie, another longtime news anchor at the network.

Kotb announced in September she would leave the network’s morning news program to spend more time with her family.

“I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and to try something new,” a tearful Kotb said at the time.

On Thursday, she told Melvin he was “literally made for this job.”

Melvin’s first day in his new role will be Jan. 19.
