Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ Casts Jesse Garcia & Will Yun Lee
EXCLUSIVE: Jesse Garcia (The Mother, Flamin’ Hot) and Will Yun Lee (San Andreas, The Good Doctor) have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey from Universal, sources close to production tell Deadline. Their roles are under wraps.
Nolan’s mythic action epic, shot with new Imax cameras, is based on the ancient Greek poem by Homer which follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The classic explores themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning and the struggle against divine will. The tale includes iconic stories like Odysseus’ encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in a reunion with his wife Penelope.

The cast is led by Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie and Charlize Theron. The ensemble also includes Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton.
As Deadline has previously reported, the film will be screened in Imax when it hits cinemas everywhere on July 17, 2026; that third weekend of July is a good luck date for Nolan where he’s launched such hits as Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer among other titles.
Garcia will next be seen in the Disney+ feature Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Tri based on the book series by Judith Viorst. The film which also stars Eva Longoria, premieres on March 28. He currently stars in the Netflix feature The Mother opposite Jennifer Lopez. Recent credits also include the Village Roadshow feature, Murder City, the Amy Redford film, Roost opposite Summer Phoenix, Michael Bay’s Ambulance and the Searchlight film Flamin’ Hot.
His TV credits include roles in Netflix’s Narcos, Sons of Anarchy,The Shield for FX and Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Garcia is best known for starring in the award-winning film Quinceañera, written and directed by Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer with Todd Haynes serving as executive producer. He is repped by Mosaic, Independent Artist Group, and attorney Mark Wetzstein.
Lee is a Korean American actor and Taekwondo Master who has taken on James Bond (Die Another Day) and gone claw-to-claw with an X-Men (The Wolverine). He recently wrapped the seventh and final season of the ABC TV series, The Good Doctor as series regular ‘Dr. Alex Park’ and lived many lives as ‘Takeshi Kovacs’ on Netflix’s Altered Carbon. Additional small screen credits include lead and recurring roles in HBO’s True Blood, Hawaii Five-0 for CBS, USA Network’s Falling Water and the Sky One action thriller Strike Back.
For the big screen, he worked opposite Dwayne Johnson in Rampage (2018) and San Andreas (2015) and Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law in Spy (2015). Lee is also a partner in the international production company Seoul Street. He is repped by Wonder Street and Independent Artists Group.
