Yahoo Lifestyle Christina Haack Addresses 'Sister Wives' Comments About Her Unconventional Bond with Tarek & Heather El Moussa
The designer says fans have been calling her close relationship with her ex and his new wife, with whom she currently co-stars on HGTV's 'The Flip Off' — 'weird'

Heather El Moussa, Tarek El Moussa and Christina HaackChristina Haack is acknowledging some interesting comments coming from fans of her new show, The Flip Off.
In an Instagram video posted Wednesday, Feb. 5, Christina, her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his new wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, read out loud and react to some dramatic headlines and social media comments that have been written about them over the years.
Heather reads a fan's query about her and and Christina's similar appearances, asking Tarek, "How do you tell them apart?" Turning to her husband she asks, "Honey, I don't know, how do you?"
Tarek replies "Oh easy, shoes." The two women point out that they have a lot of the same shoes, which could potentially cause confusion.
"From behind, you know, he doesn’t know," Heather comments before quickly adding, "That could be taken a few different ways."

Tarek, who also clocked the potential for a double meaning, cuts in, "I didn’t want to say that because I’m gonna get in trouble."
Christina groans at the duo, lamenting, "Now the comments are gonna start again: 'sister wives,' ''it’s weird,'" she says seemingly repeating some of the feedback fans have given the trio on their dynamic recently.
The co-stars are undeniably on better terms now than they've ever been since Tarek and Christina's dramatic split in 2016. They shocked fans when HGTV announced in May 2024 that the exes would be reuniting for a new series — their first on-screen collaboration since their original hit series Flop or Flop aired its final episode in March 2022.
Tarek and Christina's split after seven years of marriage involved a harrowing incident during which Tarek fled their home with a gun and Christina called 9-1-1. He would later enter rehab and briefly lived in a halfway house. However, the co parents — they share daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9, — continued to work together, filming several seasons of Flip or Flop even after they finalized their divorce in 2018.
Their dynamic was playfully combative, with the exception of one leaked incident in which they got into a screaming match on set. Tarek later apologized, saying he deeply regretted the outburst.
After Tarek met Heather in July 2019, she and Christina also clashed on occasion. A blow up during which the two got in each other's faces on the sidelines of Brayden's soccer game made headlines in 2022.
Over the years, it seems some of those old wounds have healed and they've become successful co-parents. While promoting his memoir Flip Your Life in 2024, Tarek told PEOPLE that his and Christina's relationship was “better than it's been ever, since the separation."

The original couple-versus-couple concept of The Flip Off still played on Christina and Tarek's rivalry. It was intended to pit the El Moussas against Christina and her third husband, Josh Hall, before their surprise split in July 2024.
To promote the series, Tarek, Heather, Christina and occasionally Josh, posted playful skits poking fun at their past spats — like the soccer game incident — and even the public's criticisms, like the frequent comments about Christina and Heather's similar appearances.

After Josh filed for divorce on July 15, 2 months after the series was announced and had already begun filming, it became 2-on-1.
Despite jokingly stressing their advantage, Tarek and Heather publicly expressed their support for Christina when her personal life was thrown into chaos again.
“We’re here for anything she needs, honestly,” Tarek told Access Hollywood on a red carpet in December 2024. “I know there’s a lot of stuff going on in the world between the co-parenting, but at the end of the day, we’re actually friends. We take care of each other, we’re really supportive.”

While they're all still fiercely competitive in the show's house flipping showdown, the three have been very close for months leading up to the series premiere on Jan. 29, and after.
They spent Christmas together at Christina's Newport Beach mansion with their blended family. (Christina also shares son Hudson London, 5, with her second husband Ant Anstead, and Tarek and Heather are parents to son Tristan, 2.) They also frequently filmed the show in one another's homes, and went live on Instagram as a trio from Christina's on the night of the premiere.

During the live, Heather accidentally called Christina's house "our house."
"We all live here! It’s our new show coming out,” Tarek jokingly chimed in. The three TV personalities, who were already giggling, began laughing even harder when they saw a comment from a fan comparing them to the sitcom “Three’s Company.”
While the show certainly sees them spending more time together than ever before, during a promotional interview for HGTV shared to Instagram on Jan. 18, they addressed why that will always be the case.
Tarek read a fan comment encouraging them to “just go your separate ways,” and replied, “What do you want me to do? I got two kids with her [motioning to Christina]. I got one kid with her [motioning to Heather]. I’m stuck in the middle!”
“We have children!!” Christina added with a laugh. “We’re stuck together forever!”
