The first One Chicago crossover event in five years is finally here — and it looks, well, terrifying!

In an exclusive first look at the Jan. 29 event on NBC, characters from NBC's Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med will come together to save the day after a gas explosion leaves countless people in danger — including quite a few staffers at Firehouse 51, Gaffney Medical Center and in the Intelligence Unit.

"Possible gas explosion, 50-60 victims," Fire's Battalion Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) tells his team at the beginning of the promo as he walks alongside some rubble.

Lt. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) appears to be below ground, helping people on an L train. "Stay on the train until the ground settles," she tells them.

Moments later, Pascal realizes, "The foundation's going to give way" on the massive building beside him. He quickly radios Kidd: "Evacuate immediately," he declares as it looks like the tunnel is beginning to collapse.

Next, Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) puts someone in their place about the situation: "People are still on that train, including my wife!" — and Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) from P.D. seems nervous as he tells some of the staffers at Med, "We've got two of our own down there."

As they're talking, flashes Kidd and Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) look terrified as they observe their surroundings on the train. They're "running out of air," Kidd later tells him.

Next, Sgt. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) is shown falling and being wheeled into Med. "She's crashing," says Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) as Platt's husband Mouch (Christian Stolte) looks on breathlessly.

In the final scene from the clip, Pascal radios, "Kidd, do you copy?" and just gets static back. Tears cover Severide's face.

The official logline for the episode reads, "When a gas explosion rocks a high-rise, Chicago’s first responders come out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians. It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own."

The three-show collaboration was once a much more regular occurrence, but the last time they all came together was in 2019. Between the pandemic and last year's SAG-AFTRA strike, it's been five years since the last major crossover moment.

“Putting together what is essentially a three-hour action movie is an incredibly ambitious task requiring complete coordination across our writers, casts, crews and producers, along with help from the city of Chicago,” Anastasia Puglisi, Wolf Entertainment executive vice president and co-executive producer of the One Chicago shows, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have the best talent in every department to meet this challenge, reinforce the #OneChicago brand, and provide our fans with a unique and compelling viewing experience.”
