Chappell Roan Totally Manifested Winning a Grammy in Resurfaced Video
"So that's my goal. And I’m going to do whatever it takes to get it," Roan said in the 2012 footage
Chappell Roan's Grammy award was a long time coming.
In a resurfaced video from 2012 going viral on X, a young Roan, now 26, spoke at Springfield’s Got Talent competition, manifesting her eventual victory at the 2025 Grammys. "I want to win a Grammy," the Missouri native said in the clip, holding up a massive novelty check for $1,012.
"So that's my goal. And I’m going to do whatever it takes to get it. So that’ll be the fight for me."
The singer did just that — performing "Pink Pony Club" and taking home the gramophone for best new artist at this year's event on Sunday, Feb. 2 after being nominated for six awards including record of the year and album of the year.

In her impassioned acceptance speech on Sunday, the "Red Wine Supernova" performer called for the music industry to provide better healthcare to its artists.
"I told myself, if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels in the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists," she said reading from her notebook onstage.
Roan, who was open about her mental health in the past, revealed that she had been signed onto a record label as a minor and when she was dropped, she had no experience. "Like most people, I had a difficult time finding a job in a pandemic and could not afford health insurance."

"If my label would have prioritized artists' health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to," she said.
Roan continued: "So record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us?"
