Bruce Springsteen praises Jeremy Allen White's portrayal of him in biopic: 'A great job'

Bruce Springsteen found fame with "Born in the U.S.A.". As it turns out, he thinks Jeremy Allen White was born to play him in an upcoming biopic.

White is set to portray Springsteen in the film "Deliver Me from Nowhere," and the genre-bending rock singer opened up about the project during a recent call into SiriusXM’s E Street Radio.

"He sings well. He sings very well," Springsteen told SiriusXM host Jim Rotolo of the Emmy-winning "The Bear" actor in a clip that released Thursday, originally from an 11-minute Dec. 20 interview. Springsteen also said seeing someone else play him was "a little bit" weird at first, but "you get over that pretty quick."

He added, "Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it" and he has "an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize, and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun."

Springsteen continued: "I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there."

The biopic, about the making of Springsteen's 1982 album "Nebraska," is based on Warren Zanes' 2024 book "Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska."

The 1982 “Nebraska” album is composed of demos Springsteen recorded on Teac 4-track recorder in a Colts Neck house. The original intent was to record and release the songs with the E Street Band, but the decision was made to leave them as they were. It has since become a classic and is largely credited with kicking-off the lo-fi indie rock movement.

Jeremy Strong reportedly portrays Springsteen manager Jon Landau, and Johnny Cannizzaro will embody Springsteen's longtime friend and E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt.

'Never-before-heard' Bruce Springsteen recordings to release in 2025

According to a Dec. 18 press release from Springsteen's representatives, fans have new music to look forward to this year: "Upcoming releases in 2025 will include a look back at Springsteen’s storied recording career, featuring never-before-heard material."

The press release also notes: "2025 will find Springsteen returning to Europe to perform 16 shows in six countries with The E Street Band. He’ll also continue his involvement in the upcoming biopic 'Deliver Me From Nowhere,' which stars Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen and is currently filming on the Jersey Shore."

What we know so far about 'Deliver Me from Nowhere'

The Boss was reportedly on-hand as production for the biopic was underway in New Jersey.

In November, he was photographed on set at John's Midtown Tavern in Bayonne, New Jersey, and a nearby parking lot that was set up to resemble an early '80s, late '70s used car dealership. Springsteen was pictured hugging White on the set. He was also seen with director Scott Cooper.

In August, Springsteen was spotted dining at the pizza restaurant Talula's with Cooper and several crew members.

In new photos released in October by 20th Century Studios, White went from "The Bear" to "The Boss" with a new rock 'n' roll makeover.

White was nearly unrecognizable in his portrayal of the New Jersey rocker. Wearing a red and blue flannel shirt with a dark blue jacket, the actor's trademark blonde locks were dyed dark brown as he gazed off camera with his hands tucked into his pockets.
