Bride's horrifying discovery after blood leaks onto wedding dress

A Queensland bride suffered a wedding nightmare after she discovered blood had leaked onto her white wedding dress.

If that's not bad enough, the bride was even more horrified when she found the source of where the blood was coming from.

Detailing the incident on TikTok, bride Madalyn Wise said she and her husband got married in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, there was heavy rain but the ceremony still went ahead as planned. However, when they went to get their wedding photos taken, the newlyweds had to trek through sludgy long grass.

Three hours later, after the speeches finished, the couple took to the dance floor for their first waltz as husband and wife, but things took a shocking turn when Madalyn's mother-in-law grabbed her.

"She takes me away from the dance floor and she's waking me into the dressing room and when we get there I'm like, 'What is happening?'," Madalyn explained.

"So then we're in there and she's just lifting up my dress and I was like, 'OK, what is going on?' and she's like, 'There's blood'."

Madalyn initially thought she got her period early due to being stressed about the wedding, but then her mother-in-law informed her there had been three leeches stuck to her – one on her foot, the back of the knee and another crawling up her leg. She said she believed they had been sucking her blood for three hours.

She added one of the leeches had filled up on blood and dropped off her leg onto the dance floor, which is why so much blood gushed onto her dress.

"So I know what you're probably thinking, like, how do you know it was on you for three hours? I'm just guessing. That's because the leech was so thick. And when they get that thick, it means they've literally filled up, like that leech had met its capacity and dropped off.

"And I know what else you're probably thinking – why didn't I feel it? Well that's because when leeches latch on to you they release, I'm pretty sure it's in their saliva, like, a numbing agent.

"So basically what I think happened was that we went and did this photo shoot in the afternoon and at some point during the shoot, the leeches had made their way up my leg while we were going through the long, sludgy grass.

"I was the only one at the wedding who had this leech issue, none of my guests had leeches on them. Literally, none of the staff, like no one had a leech but me."
