BRELAND Wants to Write You a Song: 'There Is a Story to Be Told About Everything' (Exclusive)

The country artist is partnering with Busch Light for their "Real Country, Real Lyrics" campaign

BRELAND recently lost the hard drive where countless of his song ideas lived.

"It was devastating," the singer-songwriter, 29, tells PEOPLE from his home in New Jersey following a recent trip to the U.K. "I could probably recreate most of them, and I have pieces of the tracks in my email and in different places…"

His voice drifts off as the creative country music titan seems to dwell on everything held within that hard drive, but BRELAND knows inspiration will strike again.

"An inspiration can strike in a million different ways and at a million different times," BRELAND explains. "I really appreciate songwriting. Even if I were doing something else, I would still be writing songs for fun just because it's something that means a lot to me, and it's part of how I communicate with the world as a person and categorize and organize my thoughts."

And as much as BRELAND has told his own story in songs such as "Cross Country," he now finds himself actively searching out new ideas in which to unleash his creative forces upon. Because at his core, he believes everyone has a story to tell.

"There is a story to be told about everything," says BRELAND, who broke onto the music scene with his platinum-certified debut single "My Truck" back in 2019. "You just have to know how to tell it. Anytime I get a chance to tell stories through music, it is really my favorite thing to do. I think it’s my purpose as a person on this planet."

So when Busch Light approached the multi-platinum recording artist about partnering with them on their new songwriting campaign titled "Real Country, Real Lyrics," BRELAND jumped at the chance.

"There's something really special that happens when you get a chance to tell someone else's story,” says BRELAND of the campaign which invites Busch Light fans to submit their own story on social media by tagging #BuschLight and #RealLyrics for a chance to be incorporated in an upcoming track. "Every story is meant to be heard. I think everyone's story is worthy as being in a song. It's just a matter of whether or not a song will get written."

And the ideas have been coming in strong.

"Some people are going with more broad stroke sort of ideas, like saying that they like hanging out with friends and cracking open a Busch Light over a campfire," explains BRELAND. "But then there's also people who are getting more specific. And I think either way, it is going to create a really one-of-a-kind type of song. I'm looking forward to delivering something that sounds really good, as well as also being a really unique writing experience."

Writing and recording seems to be all that BRELAND is thinking about right now, as the New Jersey native seems to hint that a brand-new project is coming soon.

"I've been working on a bunch of new music," says BRELAND, who’s collaborated in the past with artists such as Lady A, Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett. "I did tour and play some shows earlier this year, but I was really intentional about wanting to take the summer off the road and really just find time to write."

BRELAND admits his chaotic career began to take a toll on him over the past couple of years, as he found himself playing almost 300 shows from 2022 to 2023. "Honestly, it was physically and mentally unsustainable, especially when it comes to needing to be able to really dive in and make new music," says BRELAND, whose Little More Countrier tour wrapped up in May.

And it's this new music that might reveal a whole new side of the artist.

"I've had a lot of life experiences, love and loss and grief and pain, and also some really great joys,” BRELAND tells PEOPLE. "So yeah, I have a bunch of ideas that I've wanted to be able to put into a project. It's just about headspace and making sure that I'm the best version of myself to be able to accomplish those things.'
