Beyoncé Postpones Major Announcement After Donating $2.5 Million to L.A. Fire Relief

Beyoncé has revealed her highly anticipated announcement won’t be going ahead on Tuesday, Jan. 14 as previously scheduled.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the singer, 43, explained she had decided to delay the news in light of the ongoing blaze in Los Angeles.

“The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles,” the star said.

“I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss,” she continued. “We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community."

She concluded the statement by urging fans to “join our efforts in supporting those impacted” by visiting her public charity foundation BeyGood’s website.

The decision to postpone the announcement came just hours after she donated $2.5 million on behalf of the BeyGood Foundation to L.A. relief funds.

In an Instagram post on the foundation’s feed, Beyoncé said the large sum was “earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers” due to the wildfires.

Fans had been speculating about what the Jan. 14, mystery could be ever since she teased the date in a cryptic video on Christmas Day. Having wowed with her halftime show on Dec. 25, she took to Instagram with a clip showing herself in an all-white outfit while sitting on a white horse and waving a flag.

“Look at that horse,” she captioned the post, without hinting if her big reveal would be visuals for any recent projects, new music, or a tour.

She then went quiet on the social media platform until her latest statement explaining that the announcement would be delayed.

Thousands of people have been displaced amid the wildfires and the National Weather Service Los Angeles has issued an “extremely rare” Red Flag Warning due to strong winds enhancing the risk for “rapid fire growth.”

On Sunday, Jan. 12 the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the death toll had risen to 24 as a result of the devastation.
