Beyoncé makes history at the 2025 Grammy Awards

Beyoncé made history at the Grammys as the 43-year-old picked up a trophy for Cowboy Carter.

The award ceremony win saw Beyoncé become the first Black woman to ever take home the award for Best Country Album. She was nominated alongside fellow stars including Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson, and was awarded the honour by fellow megastar and former country music darling Taylor Swift.

Beyoncé was visibly shocked as she accepted the award; since she skipped the red carpet earlier in the evening, her winning Best Country Album was the first glimpse fans had of the superstar during music’s biggest night. She was joined by her husband, Jay-Z, and their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, for the occasion.

“Wow! I really was not expecting this,” the singer said onstage as she received a well-deserved standing ovation. “I want to thank God—oh my, God—that I’m still able to do what I love after so many years. I want to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album—we worked so hard on it. I think sometimes that genre is a cold word meant to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay consistent.

“Wow, I want to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators, thank you, this wouldn’t have been this album without you. And I want to thank God again and my fans and I am still in shock so thank you so much for this honour.”

Beyoncé was already a winner before she stepped foot inside the Grammy Awards ceremony tonight, as her collaboration with Miley Cyrus, “II Most Wanted” won Best Country Duo/Group Performance before the party even started.
