This Baking Mix Line Changed My Life—and Now It’s the Only One I’ll Ever Buy

As the designated baker in my family, I’m always looking for easier ways to feed my loved ones. That’s why I’ll sometimes take the easy route and use boxed baking mixes. But as much as I love how using them cuts my time in the kitchen in half, the result is never as delicious as when I make a dessert from scratch. I just hadn’t found a baking mix that compares to homemade baking—until now.

There’s no denying the absolute powerhouse that Dolly Parton is. From singing to acting and philanthropy, Parton has become a pop culture icon that generations of adoring fans love. And the most loyal fans know that Parton is a queen in the kitchen.

Just this past year, Parton released a cookbook with her sister, Rachel. Before that, Parton launched her own line of baking mixes in 2022, Baking with Dolly, in collaboration with Duncan Hines that were inspired by her favorite family recipes. While the original launch included two boxed cake mixes and two frostings, the collection has now expanded to include a wide range of products, including buttermilk biscuits and fudge brownies.

After trying out several of Dolly's baking mixes, I simply can’t get enough of them. Not only are they relatively inexpensive but they’re just so darn good.

After baking both Dolly Parton's Blueberry Flavored Muffin & Bread Mix and Favorite Yellow Cake Mix, I can confidently say both tasted like I made them from scratch. The blueberry muffin mix is incredibly moist, even after a couple days of sitting out on the counter. Between my roommate and I, they were gone within two days.

As for the yellow cake mix, I realized last minute that I didn’t have any frosting and decided to still give the cake a try without it. Surprisingly, I ended up eating almost half of the pan due to how good it was. Even without frosting, the cake was fluffy and deliciously soft, with a slight vanilla flavor to sweeten the deal. I later added some apricot jam that I had lying around for some extra sweetness and I was in heaven.

And it looks like I'm not the only one who loves this line. In fact, several of my team members at Allrecipes also turn to Dolly for quick and easy bakes.
