Austin Butler lands next lead movie role following Dune: Part Two

Austin Butler has landed his next lead movie role in upcoming crime thriller Caught Stealing.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who recently made his debut as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two, is set to team up with The Whale director Darren Aronofsky for the upcoming film, according to Deadline.

Based on Charlie Huston's book series of the same name, Caught Stealing is set in the 1990s and centres on a burned-out former baseball player named Hank Thompson.

Hank finds himself caught up in New York City's downtown criminal underworld against his will, and scrabbling to survive.

"I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie's adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can't wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers," said Aronofsky.

Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures' Motion Picture Group, added: "Darren is one of the most brilliant audiovisual storytellers in the world, and adapting these wonderful books by Charlie Huston for Austin to star was too exciting an opportunity to not be a part of".

Huston will also write the film's script, it's been confirmed.

Butler will soon be seen in upcoming biker movie The Bikeriders opposite Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer and Norman Reedus.

The film will follow the lives of a fictional Chicago-based motorcycle gang over a decade. After some delays, it's finally set to arrive in cinemas this June.

It was also was recently announced that work will soon begin on Butler's upcoming A24 film with Emma Stone.

Directed by Ari Aster, Eddington will follow a small-town New Mexico sheriff who has lofty aspirations.

Other cast members joining Butler and Stone include The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal, Joker's Joaquin Phoenix, Yellowstone's Luke Grimes, Daredevil's Deirdre O’Connell and Empire of Light's Micheal Ward.
