Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea has joined the adult subscription-based website OnlyFans in a bizarre attempt to draw attention to her fourth album Hotter Than Hell. While the star found success with her single Fancy topping the Billboard charts for seven weeks in 2014, she has struggled to reach the same heights since.
The musician, who hails from Mullumbimby in New South Wales, announced her year-long partnership with OnlyFans on Instagram. The star promises there will be a mixture of exclusive content for subscribers as part o her Hotter Than Hell x OnlyFans multimedia project.
The star shared a racy video on Instagram which depicted the 32-year-old posing seductively on a bed in a blue lingerie set. Throughout the video, she is shown filming herself intercut with a man watching and typing on a computer.
“SURPRISE! I’m dropping a mixed media project called ‘Hotter Than Hell’. There’s photographs, visual art collabs, videos, merch & all kinds of aesthetically pleasing, hot as hell things happening this year. You can get first look content + updates on my new OnlyFans account,” she wrote in the caption.
Fans will have to fork out $US25 per month to access Iggy’s OnlyFans content, but the singer said she was “excited” for subscribers to see her creations.
“I’ve been working on Hotter Than Hell for over six months already, and I’m full of excitement and nervous anticipation to begin revealing it to the world, layer by layer,” she told Variety.
“Admittedly, I never knew OnlyFans was a place where I could be creative, so I didn’t expect to be collaborating with them on my biggest project to date!”
Iggy's fans went crazy for her bikini content shared on social media to promote her OnlyFans, with many labelling her as a "goddess" and a "beauty". Her OnlyFans project will finish in December 2023, and the Aussie star plans to release a companion coffee table for purchase that month.
She has taken inspiration from Madonna’s Sex book, 90s supermodels and Pamela Anderson, working with a range of visual artists, producers and photographers.
When describing the project, she said fans can expect content that is “tongue-in-cheek fun and unapologetically hot”.
“I feel excited about not having to worry about the overwhelming and creatively limiting censorship artists have to navigate when sharing work on other digital platforms,” she added.
Iggy divides with OnlyFans decision
Although the rapper reportedly made $307,000 in her first 24 hours on the adult platform, her decision to join has divided fans.
OnlyFans creators have spoken in the past about how celebrities joining can make it harder for sex workers on the platform. Iggy weighed in on this topic in a past tweet and declared she would “never ever join” the subscription website, adding that it “f**ks up the bag for people on there who [are] really about that life.”
“Another celebrity joins OnlyFans…many other people on that site that need money waaaaay more than you,” one person pointed out.
“I love you Iggy but I could’ve sworn you said you was never making an OnlyFans,” a second wrote.
“Is this the go to move when you realise you’re not a real singer?” another quipped.
Others supported Iggy and suggested that her business move was needed to get people listening to her music again.
“You’ll be a billionaire in a week. Genius idea,” gushed a fan.
“This is the best move for her. Her music ain’t hot as it used to," admitted another.
“Well seeing IGGY AZALEA naked wasn’t on my agenda for 2023 but I’m here for it get that bag sis!” a third chimed in.
