Aussie influencer Karina Irby has sparked a heated debate between fans after posting a racy snap on Instagram. In a carousel of carefree bikini photos from the past month, the Moana swimwear designer also included a nude snap of her butt with a tiny unicorn sticker on it.
“A slice of my January,” she captioned the snaps, before adding a list of her goals for the year. She told followers she wanted to “eat better”, “move her body consistently” and joked she wanted to “air thrust at least once a day”.
The Queenslander is known for her inspiring body positivity posts and often hits back at trolls who try to tear her down. The social media star has over 1.2 million followers on Instagram and almost 500,000 followers on TikTok.
The majority of comments on her Instagram post were from fans who gushed over how incredible she looked, with many thanking her for showing the less ‘glamorous’ side of her influencer life.
“Love you so much and this post. You bring us so much good energy,” one person wrote.
“I absolutely love you…you’re such an inspiration to our younger girls, thank you for being you and ignoring the trolls,” another added.
“I don’t know if you will see this comment, but thank you for making me feel comfortable with my body. Admire you,” a third chimed in.
There were a few people who weren’t happy with Karina’s choice to post a nude snap on social media, with one saying it wasn’t appropriate for younger fans to see.
“I support every post of yours and the anti-bully messages…but exposing bare a** on Instagram is too much of normalisation for me. Anybody is free to do whatever the fudge y’all want but bare a** for [young children] to see as normal for me crosses the limit,” they wrote.
Another agreed, saying they didn’t ‘need to see her bare butt up close’.
However, Karina addressed the backlash in the comments, saying that she regularly posts snaps of her behind on social media, adding she was trying to show off her unicorn pimple patch. Her fans also leapt to defend the influencer with scathing comments.
“I swear some people make a hobby out of hating on this woman. You do you Karina,” one person commented.
“Didn’t even notice she wasn’t wearing bikini bottoms till you had to point it out, because it’s no different to what Karina normally posts. Believe it or not, you don’t always need to speak your mind,” another lashed out.
“Like a two-inch piece of fabric between her butt cheeks make such a huge difference? Get REAL. It’s not her responsibility to censor her body — it’s parents' responsibility to censor what their children have access to. You’re not a true supporter — if you were you’d know this is normal content,” a third chimed in.
“She can do whatever she wants. It’s her body and guess what, we were all born naked, we weren’t born with clothes,” another remarked.
While Karina hasn't publicly addressed the backlash since replying to the troll, she swiftly deleted the post from Instagram on Monday afternoon.
