Actor Aubrey Plaza’s filmmaker husband Jeff Baena was found dead Friday morning by his assistant at their Los Angeles-area home.

According to TMZ, investigating police believe Baena, 47, died by suicide. Emergency services were called to the home around 10:30 a.m., and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Best-known for his off-kilter comedies such as Life After Beth and The Little Hours, Baena married Plaza in 2021 after dating for more than a decade. At the time, Plaza let the news slip that they got married in an Instagram post lauding the 2022 film Spin Me Round, which Baena co-wrote and Plaza co-stars in with Alison Brie.

“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble 😈 excited to be reunited with the amazing @alisonbrie (who also co-wrote this one!) and @theofficialsuperstar @sordociego @lauren_weedman and so many more fun people in this. Preparati!!” wrote Plaza.

Under the post, fans have started to leave condolences for the filmmaker and well wishes for plaza.
