Aubrey Plaza Gets Heartfelt Shout-Out at Golden Globes After Husband’s Death
Actress Aubrey Plaza received a heartfelt message from the stage at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards after her husband, writer and director Jeff Baena, was found dead in their home at 47 just two days earlier.
Accepting his Best Director award for The Brutalist, Brady Corbet thanked “three people that I lost while making this picture,” including his grandfather, his uncle, and the late Euphoria producer Kevin Turen, who died from heart issues in November 2023.

Corbet said he missed Turen “every day,” before offering his condolences to Plaza: “Tonight, my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family.”
Baena was found dead by his assistant on Friday morning, from what police believe was a suicide. He and Plaza dated for a decade before marrying in 2021. He directed her in several indie films including Life After Beth, The Little Hours, and Spin Me Round.
Plaza was not present at the ceremony after being announced as a presenter the day before her husband’s death.
