Arrietty responds to “RuPaul’s Drag Race” sisters naming her villain of season 17: 'That’s a lie!'

The "very angelic" elf — who's in the same drag family as Irene Dubois and Bosco — tells EW: "I am not nice; I am kind. There's a difference."

Arrietty responds to “RuPaul’s Drag Race” sisters naming her villain of season 17: 'That’s a lie!'

“There’s somethin’ real p---y about ‘em,” says RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 star Arrietty, in words never before in human history uttered about elf ears.

Within moments of her interview with Entertainment Weekly, it’s clear Arrietty is giving a lot that we’ve never seen before — largely because we can’t even see her eyes, which are obscured by jet-black contact lenses that make the simple act of conversing with her feel like staring into the eternal pits of hell (in a wig).

And yet, she’s “very angelic,” she promises. If her season 17 sisters have anything to say about it, that might not be true — when asked by EW, almost all of them voted to give Arrietty (yes, named after the 2010 Hayao Miyazaki film of the same name) the superlative of villain of the season. “I am, like, the sweetest person ever. I’m very loud. Very vibrant,” she counters, later clarifying: “I am not nice; I am kind. There’s a difference.”

Arrietty of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' season 17

Therein lies the magic of Arrietty; she’ll flip from devilish giggling and saying things like “puss,” “c--t,” “God,” and “sex” all in the span of five seconds, to offering a  poignant statement that only further adds to the mystifying — and enchanting — fantastical essence she’s building right before our very eyes.

It should come as a surprise to no one that a Seattle queen adopted into Drag Race season 15 star Irene Dubois’ oddball drag family (which also includes Arrietty’s auntie, season 14 finalist Bosco) is, well, another delightful oddball.

“I grew up watching Bad Girls Club. I’m feisty,” Arrietty promises, after recalling that Irene and Bosco (known for feistiness themselves) gave her advice before joining the show, that mostly included to prepare herself for inevitable ruthless attacks from a toxic sub-sect of the show’s online fandom.

But, Arrietty has an edge that many other kooky girls don’t, one that could offer a good defense if Untucked ever calls for it. Being in her presence leaves you unsure of whether to feel intimidated, fascinated, or both, as she stares at you from behind her signature beat: a sharply painted nose and dainty, pointed elf-ear prosthetics framing her face.

“Growing up, I always got teased for having a big nose, so in drag, I want to have a bigger one,” she explains of utilizing her artistry as a tool of self-love by highlighting a feature that was once weaponized against her. “I feel much more beautiful with how I paint instead of what the other girls do. I feel like the most, bestest feline hoe there is.”

Outside of her sharp mug, Arrietty assures she is also going to — pardon the cliché — slay the runway, which feels like an even better way to silence her foes, both past and present.

“I love [doing] the most. I love extravagance. I love beauty, grace, and other words,” she jokes. “I love fashion so much. I love the artistic vision of drag. I’m very excited because I love my package. It’s going to be finger-licking good.”

When EW informs Arrietty that her season 17 sisters also voted her as one of the best runway queens of the season, she seems delighted — kind of.

“If you’re going to be a f---ing bitch, you’ve got to look good,” she quips. “You can’t be ugly. I’m sorry, that’s sad!”
