Ariana Grande has co-created a brand-new capsule with Swarovski
With an Oscar nomination freshly under her belt and another Wicked movie on the way, Ariana Grande shows no signs of slowing down. Now, she’s stepping into the world of luxury jewellery with a brand-new capsule collection she co-created alongside Swarovski's global creative director, Giovanna Engelbert.
Just this past summer, Grande was announced as an ambassador for Swarovski and went on to star in the brand's Christmas campaign titled “Party of Dreams.” But while the “Yes, And” singer has always stunned in their glittering creations, she’s never had a hand in designing them — until now.
“I’m thrilled to continue my creative journey with Swarovski by bringing my love for music and self-expression to this shining jewellery collection, co-designed with Giovanna,” she said in a statement. “I can’t wait for everyone to discover their unique sparkle and enjoy these beautiful pieces as much as I do.”
In an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Engelbert discussed how wonderful it was to work with Grande, saying their days together were spent laughing and discussing their infatuation with jewellery and fashion.
“My whole team was in love with her; she’s been so professional and fun and easy to work with,” Engelbert said. “I thought she was the perfect fit because she’s such a multi-faceted woman. She is her own boss.”
The result of their collaboration is a brilliant 16-piece collection that celebrates Grande’s connection to music through crystal- and pearl-adorned accessories that are both striking and elegant. From an ear cuff shaped like a treble clef to a whimsical tiara that wouldn’t look out of place on her Wicked character, Glinda, the collection includes a range of styles that feel totally Grande — with some playfully divergent twists. Each piece gets its shining moment in a gorgeous black-and-white shoot starring Grande from Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
“She wanted to go even bolder,” Engelbert revealed of the singer, referring to her vision for the designs. “[We wanted] glamour, but a fresh and young take on it.”
It’s true that Grande tends to lean daintier and more understated with her jewellery, but this capsule is all about making a statement, whether with a chunky, heart-shaped pendant or a swirly bangle. The pieces feel modern and bold but still exude timeless elegance.
While this collection marks the first time Engelbert has ever collaborated with a major pop star, it hopefully won’t be the last. “Who knows?” She says teasingly when I ask if this could be the start of many creative collaborations between her and Grande. “I mean, we want to create more together, so let’s see where our creativity [and] serendipity will go from here.”
The Ariana Grande x Swarovski capsule will be available today within a few luxury pop-ups and activations, and it will launch globally in Swarovski stores and online starting on January 30.
