Anne Hathaway Pokes Fun at Jeremy Strong's Mia Thermopolis-Inspired 2025 Golden Globes Look

Anne Hathaway is poking fun at her friend Jeremy Strong's fashion choices.

Following his appearance at the 2025 Golden Globes, Hathaway, 42, took to Instagram to playfully call out the similarity between Strong's red carpet ensemble a memorable looks from her 2001 movie The Princess Diaries.

In the Monday, Jan. 6 post, the Oscar-winning actress shared side-by-side images of Strong , 46, wearing a mint green bucket hat at the awards and a snap of herself in the film wearing a gray hat in the same style. At the awards ceremony, Strong also wore a matching suit with a white turtleneck underneath.

"Sweetheart, I’m not mad you borrowed it but I didn’t totally realize you were going to change the col… anyway, not important, congrats on your well deserved nom for The Apprentice!!! 💚," Hathaway wrote in the caption.

Strong was nominated for best performance by a male actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in The Apprentice.

Fans are loving the nod to Hathaway's breakout role.

"He got that Mia Thermopolis fresh blowout baby," one user wrote in the comments on Instagram, referencing how Hathaway's character wore the bucket hat to hide her new hairstyle.

"Put some respect on Mia Thermopolis !!!!," said another.

A third wrote, "Who wore it better? (Don’t answer, we already know)."

It's all in good fun between Hathaway and Strong. She and the Succession star have shared a years-long friendship that began during the making the 2019 film Serenity.

"I think the bond became stronger and more personal after that because I spent time with Jeremy's character on Serenity," Hathaway told PEOPLE in 2022. "It was so lovely when we had the personal moments on that film."

The actress went on to explain how the duo's "lives kind of opened up in a similar way at a similar time in that we both became parents at roughly the same time."

"From my perspective," she continued, "this gorgeous friendship has taken root."

Hathaway and Strong worked together again when they played husband and wife in the 2022 coming-of-age drama Armageddon Time.
