Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Kelcey Wetterberg is married!
The breakout star of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders tied the knot with her boyfriend of four years, actor and registered nurse Nate Crnkovich, on Wednesday, Dec. 30, in a "very intimate" ceremony at a Catholic Church with just their immediate families. The following day, Dec. 31, they said "I do" again in a larger wedding held at the Leo Ballroom in Omaha, Nebraska — where they both grew up.
"This wedding is a dream come true," the bride exclusively tells PEOPLE. "My wedding day is always something I wondered about as a young girl...but I don't think I ever could have imagined one as beautiful as this. God couldn't have given me a better husband!"
The Netflix's hit docuseries finale saw the first-group leader (team captain) retire from DCC, pursue her career as a pediatric registered nurse and accept Crnkovich's proposal. Since then, the two have been planning their dream wedding alongside Katlynn Browning with Forever Blushing Events.
"We knew from the start that it would be a big wedding because both of our families are really big, and we, of course, wanted everyone there!" says Wetterberg, who had 300 guests at her second wedding celebration. "My main vision was just to simply have all of the people that we loved there with us to celebrate such a big step in our lives. The people were our main priority, and we wanted to make it a fun celebration of love!"
The vintage ballroom gave the New Year's Eve wedding "an old Hollywood vibe," which was accentuated with "classic and timeless" décor that followed a black, white and silver color scheme.
A priest close to the Wetterberg family officiated the ceremony. Before exchanging traditional vows underneath an arch of white florals arranged by Brandon Selman of Forever Borrowed, Wetterberg, 28, and Crnkovich, 29, privately read handwritten vows to each other during their first look, which Wetterberg says was the "intimate" moment she was most excited for.
"Marriage to me is about dedicating your life to someone else and two people putting each other's needs above their own," she says. "Promising your life to someone in front of God and staying true to that promise is such a beautiful representation of service to the highest degree. It's such a beautiful thing getting to love and be loved unconditionally."
Wetterberg's hair was styled by Salon for Women while her makeup was by Madeline Cope. She wore a pearl fit-and-flare wedding dress with a trumpet skirt designed by Essense of Australia. She originally ordered a different wedding dress over the summer, but unexpectedly fell in love with her gown while shopping at House of Bridal in Oklahoma City.
"I went into House of Bridal in the fall to look for a reception dress or rehearsal dinner dress and couldn't stop crying when I tried this one on," she recalls. "It was absolutely perfect and had everything I loved put together in a dress — pearls, a winter-y/frosted look, beading, but still simple and classic. It was just overwhelmingly beautiful to me, so I knew I had to wear it."
Her original dress was altered by her mother, who sewed it into an A-line style for the rehearsal dinner. For the reception, Wetterberg changed into another dress by Essense of Australia that she says she was "obsessed with." The art deco-inspired gown featured sleek spaghetti straps with sparkly beading and a dramatic low-illusion back.
"It is absolutely perfect for a New Year's Eve send off! It adds a little glitz and glam to the end of the night but still feels so elegant," the bride gushes.
While her ceremony dress was perfect for her first dance with Crnkovich to Leon Bridges and Luke Combs' "Beyond," it was "a little too heavy" for the "Thunderstruck" performance she did with her fellow Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Luckily, her sparkling reception dress matched well with her silver and blue pom poms.
"It's a tradition to do it at all of our weddings!" the bride says of her the "Thunderstruck" performance.
Music and entertainment was provided by Nova Productions.
For dinner, guests dined buffet-style on a house salad, sage pesto chicken, marinated flank steak, green beans almondine, roasted garlic and herb mashed potato from caterer Attitude On Food.
Next, the couple cut into a six-tier wedding cake with three delicious flavors — traditional white cake, strawberry cake and decadent cookies and cream. The smooth cake by Amy Cullifer of Amy Cakes was decorated with an intricate pearl design, the wedding monogram, and flowing wafer paper florals and leaves.
Guests also enjoyed a dessert display perfect for a New Year’s Eve celebration, with mini cupcakes, cake pops, cheesecake shooters and a variety of tarts. Later in the night, they snacked on french bread pizza.
Wetterberg and Crnkovich grew up about 15 minutes away from each other in Omaha, Nebraska, but never met until Wetterberg lived in Dallas and Crnkovich lived in Los Angeles.
"We had a mutual friend that posted a picture of him, and I thought he was really cute," the former cheerleader tells PEOPLE. "I followed him and we started to talk...then within a few weeks Nate flew out to Dallas to take me on a date. We started dating long distance shortly after that, and he ended up taking a travel nursing contract in Dallas a few months later to be closer. He had to move back to Los Angeles for acting jobs for a while but officially moved to Dallas about a year later."
Crnkovich popped the question on Sept. 9, 2023, during a photo shoot at The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Afterward, Crnkovich took Wetterberg to the spot where they first met outside her old apartment. Their parents were there for the sweet surprise. The group then went to a restaurant for a private lunch celebration, and a surprise engagement party later in the night.
"It was such a beautiful day, he made me feel so loved and special!" Wetterberg says.
Now, the newlyweds are looking forward to doing "everything" together.
"I love just getting to do life with Nate by my side," Wetterberg says. "I look forward to all of the new memories, experiences, and the family we will hopefully get to create."

She continues: "The things I love the most about Nate is his selflessness and overall values. He is endlessly giving...if someone needs help, Nate will not hesitate to show up even if it's a stranger. I can always count on him to do the right thing, and that's something I always wished for in a husband. He's also really cute, makes me laugh a lot, and makes me feel like one in a million...so that helps too."
In the next year, the couple hope to buy a house together and spend some time traveling.
"It will be the first time we feel like we can breathe and just focus on us!" Wetterberg says. "Kids are definitely something we want down the line, but we aren't in any rush!"
