$5 Aldi washing detergent voted best on market in Choice rank
Aldi’s Trimat Advanced Concentrate Laundry Powder has been named the best laundry detergent on the market, and it will only set you back $5.80.
A review by consumer advocacy group Choice of top and front-loader laundry detergents found that when it comes to top loaders, the budget laundry powder was the best on the market.
A bargaign buy, the powder beat out products more than three times its price to nab the top spot, and the supermarket’s Almat Laundry Powder Concentrate Arctic Breeze came in an impressive fourth.
In second and third place were Omo Ultimate Whitens and Brightens and Omo with a Touch of Comfort Inspired Freshness, the two products costing $22 and $21 respectively, with the Aldi buy almost one-quarter of the price.
Trimat costs just 27 cents a wash, something Choice laundry expert Ashley Iredale says gives it a real edge on other products available.

"You may think that paying a premium for detergent means your clothes will be cleaner, but time and time again we find that price isn't necessarily an indication of performance," Ashley said.
"Aldi Trimat's performance in our tests goes to show that you can get a great wash for a fraction of the cost of the leading brands."
Aldi also performed well in the front loaders rankings, though legendary laundry brand Dynamo took out the top three spots with Professional 7 Actions in 1 Wash, Professional Oxi Plus and Professional Deep Clean Odour Eliminating, each scoring 82% leaving them tied for first.
Aldi’s Trimat Advanced Concentrate Laundry Liquid came in fourth with 80% and for just $4, less than half the cost of Dynamo, it’s a couple of percentage points some will be willing to sacrifice.
Not all Aldi products are created equal however, with Aldi’s Laundrite Laundry Powder receiving a lacklustre 59% for front loaders.
Omo similarly dropped the ball when it came to top-loaders with their Omo Sensitive option also scoring 59%, both options barely beating the ranking of a plain water wash which was given 55%.
