Aldi named Australian supermarket of the year
Aldi Australia has come out the winner of Supermarket of the Year for 2020 in Roy Morgan’s Customer Satisfaction Awards.
The ratings are calculated from an annual survey of 50,000 Australians – which is considered the world’s most comprehensive ongoing single source survey.
"We are hugely excited to be recognised as Australia’s Best Supermarket by Roy Morgan," Group Director for Aldi Australia Simon Padovani-Ginies said.
"We are continuously striving to deliver the highest quality products at the lowest prices possible, and it’s clear this commitment is resonating with customers year in and year out."

Simon added Aldi would continue to aim to "live up to shoppers’ expectations that Aldi is Australia’s best supermarket by delivering exceptional value every time they shop".
The survey covers 40 categories across all industries, the yearly award is presented to the organisation from each category with the highest number of top monthly ratings for customer satisfaction throughout the previous 12 months.
And it's not just in-store where Australians are enjoying their experience, ALDImobile has also been awarded the top spot as Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year 2020.
Aldi has previously won Roy Morgan’s Customer Satisfaction Awards for 'Supermarket of the Year' in 2016, 2014 and 2012, for 'Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year' in 2019 and 2015, and for 'Liquor Store of the Year' in 2017.
Roy Morgan’s CEO Michele Levine congratulated ALDI’s success in the two categories.
"The Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards are about recognising businesses that provide consistently high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the year – and are a valuable way for brands to gauge how they compare with their competitors," Michele said.
Aldi has been racking in the accolades this year with its Choceur chocolate range and Lazzio coffee also taking out top gongs.
The range of sweet treats of the Choceur range, which retail for a cheap and cheerful $2.99 a block, beat out pricier brands such as Lindt and Cadbury to land Canstar's gong for Best Chocolate in Canstar Blue's 'Most Satisfied Customer Awards' for 2021.
Aldi's Lazzio coffee range also took out the top spot for Best Coffee beans in the same awards
The German retailer's best-in-show beans — which start at just $4.29 for 250g — beat out big name brands including Lavazza, Vittoria and Grinders across the taste, texture and value for money categories.
Produced by Melbourne-based Black Bag Roasters, who have been an Aldi partner since 2014, the Lazzio range has become increasingly popular with shoppers, allowing the retailers to increase support to the local business.
