Adam Sandler Had to Evacuate During L.A. Fires, Amy Schumer Reveals: 'Grab 2 Shirts and Get Out of There'
Amy Schumer shared how she brought levity to Adam Sandler, saying, "You gotta make your friends laugh during these times"
Adam Sandler was among those forced to evacuate their homes in Los Angeles when wildfires broke out this month, Amy Schumer revealed.
During Schumer's Jan. 28 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her Netflix comedy Kinda Pregnant (which Sandler, 58, produced), the actress shared how she made Sandler laugh during the difficult time.
"I did make a joke to him the other night that — I don't know how this is going to go," Schumer said; she and Fallon, 50, noted earlier in her interview that they recently had dinner with Sandler, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Judd Apatow and other comedians.
"His family was one of the people who've been affected by the wildfires, and he's sitting at this dinner with us and he's like, 'Yeah, I just had to grab like two shirts and get out of there.' "
"I'm looking at his shirt and I'm like, 'And you grabbed that one?' You know? Did you see the Hawaiian [shirt]?" she joked to Fallon. "I'm like, 'That's the one you went with?' Because you gotta make your friends laugh during these times. He's a good audience."

It is unclear whether Sandler's L.A. home was damaged by the wildfires that began on Jan. 7 and spread rapidly through significant portions of the city. Dozens of celebrities lost their homes in the fires and tens of thousands more people have been displaced by the disaster.
On Jan. 9, Sandler wrote on X, "Can’t thank the firefighters, first responders, and law enforcement enough for risking their lives for all of us in Los Angeles."
Schumer also told Fallon about working with Sandler on Kinda Pregnant, which he produced via his company Happy Madison. "He's such a perfectionist," she said. "It's just what you hoped it would be, because obviously, we've all grown up watching his movies. Don't you quote his movies like twice a day by accident? It just happens every day."
Schumer stars in Kinda Pregnant as a woman who wears a fake baby bump after growing jealous of her best friend's pregnancy.
The star shared on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show during her Jan. 29 appearance that Sandler "is very hands on" when working. "He's looking at scripts, he's looking at dailies," she said. "I was impressed."
Kinda Pregnant is on Netflix Feb. 5.
