Abbie Chatfield pays $300 for PCR test to travel to Queensland for Christmas

Abbie Chatfield has revealed that she paid $300 to get a PCR ‘travel test’ so she can make it to Queensland in time for Christmas.

The Love Island Afterparty host, who is planning on bringing her boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens home to Brisbane with her to meet her mum, took to Instagram on Tuesday to document the situation.

“So I ended up paying $300 for a test so I can get into Queensland on time,” she began. “You can get travel tests, and because Queensland has mandatory PCRs, you can get that.

“I’ll know [the results] by the end of the day. It’s just not worth the anxiety for me. I was meant to leave today, but I’m going to go tomorrow instead.”

Before Abbie received her results, she shared a video of herself sarcastically saying that she “doesn’t care” if she ends up testing positive and has to quarantine for two weeks.

"Don’t really care about Christmas or New Year’s anyway,” she joked. “Didn’t have any plans. Definitely wasn’t seeing my friends I haven’t seen for seven months from Queensland. Don’t care!

“I haven’t even thought about it so like, whatever. I’m actually more than happy to sit at home. So whatever Omicron, I don’t care.”

After getting tested at 11am on Monday and “almost vomiting” from stress, the I’m A Celebrity champion ended up receiving her negative test results at around 4pm the next day.

“That’s so hot. That’s like the hottest thing I’ve ever done,” she said on her Instagram story, following a text message confirmation screenshot that used the Britney Spears song Lucky in the background.

Abbie, who’s been a staunch supporter of vaccines and taking precautionary measures during the pandemic, has been vigilantly testing for the virus amid New South Wales’ recent outbreak.

She shared on social media earlier this week that she was “losing her mind” worrying about Covid test results and potentially contracting the Omicron strain.

‘Reminder to never settle’

Abbie’s posts come shortly after she and former Bachelorette star Konrad Bien-Stephens took their relationship to the next level and declared their love for one another.

She shared a video on social media on Tuesday documenting the sweet moment that Konrad took her to a drive-in cinema - which she says has always been her “life dream” - and opened up about his feelings for her.

The post features a series of clips of the cute couple preparing for the event, including Konrad putting a mattress on the back of his ute, buying snacks at the supermarket, arriving at Village Cinemas Coburg Drive-In in Melbourne and then kissing while watching the movie.

“Reminder to never settle,” she captioned the Instagram video. “Gone from years of gaslighting to having the purest angel on the planet.”
