Yahoo Lifestyle A24 Boards Comedy ‘Peaked’ From ‘Theater Camp’s Molly Gordon
A24 has come aboard to produce and co-finance Peaked, a new comedy written by Molly Gordon (Theater Camp) and Allie Levitan (Saturday Night Live), which will serve as a directing and starring vehicle for Gordon.
Slated for production this year, Peaked follows the two girls who traumatized you in high school as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion. David Hinojosa and Zach Nutman of 2AM will produce alongside Gordon and A24, with Levitan exec producing. Topic Studios is set to co-finance after working with Gordon on Theater Camp.

Perhaps best known for her role as Claire in FX/Hulu’s The Bear, which returns for its fourth season this year, Gordon broke out as a filmmaker with Theater Camp, a Sundance comedy of which she was co-writer, co-director and star. In its debut at the 2023 edition of the Utah festival, the film won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble and was acquired by Searchlight for $8 million, with a theatrical commitment. Pic also was named one of the National Board of Review’s Top Ten Independent Films of 2023 and earned Gordon and her co-writers an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay.
Last summer, Gordon attached to direct Small Parts, a new comedy for Searchlight Pictures, based on 1987’s Outrageous Fortune, which she’s also co-writing with Levitan. The rising multi-hyphenate was just at Sundance in support of Oh, Hi!, a dark twist on the rom-com from director Sophie Brooks, for which she and Brooks wrote the original story, with Brooks penning the screenplay.
Levitan is a writer, actress and comedian who is currently writing for Saturday Night Live. Previously, she wrote on staff of FX’s upcoming Adults and Stephen Colbert’s Showtime series Our Cartoon President, where she voiced Elizabeth Warren. Her work has also been published in The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, and Nylon Magazine.
Gordon and Levitan are both represented by WME. Gordon is also repped by Gang, Tyre, Ramer; Levitan by Rise Management and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
