$6.80 Bunnings gadget that could that could speed up your household chores: 'A necessity'
Some customers are raving about this handy tool while others, including a professional cleaner, are not sold.
If you're anything like us, you’re always on the lookout for the next miracle product to make cleaning less of a chore and more of a breeze. And if you're dealing with those pesky Venetian blinds that seem to attract dust like a magnet, Bunnings has something they’re calling the "GOAT" (greatest of all time) for cleaning—a bold claim that’s definitely piqued our interest.
The product Bunnings is talking about is the Windoware Venetian Blind Cleaner - a handy little tool priced at just $6.80 that they're hyping as a "must-have" for anyone tired of struggling with dust build-up on their blinds. The nifty gadget has a soft, dust-proof polyester brush designed to clean up to six slats at once, promising to leave your shutters spick and span.
However, professional cleaner Hailey McNicol of Proper Cleaning Group told Yahoo Lifestyle that she would not use the product in her business saying, "I just don't see the benefits."
Expert weighs in on Venetian Blind Cleaner
With years of experience in the industry, Hailey knows a thing or two about effective cleaning yet, surprisingly, she’s never opted to use this particular tool.

“It may be okay if the blinds are just dusty," Hailey told Yahoo Lifestyle, "but in most homes, we see a buildup on blinds—often caused by cooking—which makes them almost oily and in need of a wet clean.”
Instead, she recommends using a solution of diluted Fairy dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle, spraying the blinds, and then using a microfibre cloth to dry wipe and remove any buildup, leaving no streaks behind.
Hailey added, “I wouldn't use this product in my business because I just don't see the benefits. Blinds come in different sizes, and I'm not sure this gadget is adjustable.”
Mixed reactions from buyers
With Hailey's insights in mind, it’s possible this product might not be the miracle solution Bunnings claims. In fact, if you’re thinking of giving it a try, you might want to temper your expectations. While some shoppers have praised the convenience of a tool specifically designed for blinds—“This is a necessity,” raved one customer—others have found it falls short in practice.
One reviewer didn't hold back, calling it “the most useless product you would ever come across,” adding that it doesn’t effectively remove dust and is “not very easy to fit in between blinds before you clean them.”
Another user pointed out the tedious process of manually placing each slat between the prongs, describing it as “too time-consuming.”
And one final kicker? A reviewer simply said, “Quicker to do it by hand,” echoing what many of us have already suspected.
For those who aren’t ready to give up on their dusty blinds just yet, TikTok has a few alternative tips and tricks that might help you keep your shutters looking their best without breaking a sweat.
Pro-tips for dust free blinds
A popular method from the cleaning and organisation gurus at Home Reimagined recommends starting by closing the blinds and dusting them in one direction to cover the entire surface. Then, flip the blinds and dust the other side. To finish, use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove any remaining dust and debris. You can either stick to the same pattern or open the blinds and clean between each slat—whichever works best for you.
That Cleaning Guy on TikTok also swears by vacuuming to remove dust before using anything wet on the blinds. For blinds with mould, he suggests applying clove oil directly.
Another clever hack is to grab a pair of tongs, wrap microfibre towels around the ends, secure them with rubber bands, and spray with your preferred cleaning solution. This lets you easily clean or dust both sides of the blinds at once.

So, is the Windoware Venetian Blind Cleaner really the GOAT of all products? The jury’s still out. With Hailey’s expert insights and a bit of trial and error, you’ll be able to decide for yourself whether this gadget is worth adding to your cleaning arsenal or if sticking to the old-school methods might just be the way to go.
