'30 Rock' Star Jack McBrayer Delights Fans With Throwback Photo From When He 'Peaked' in 1994

Actor Jack McBrayer is known for his scene-stealing performances on 30 Rock, but a lucky few also know him as their former waiter at Applebee’s.

McBrayer, who captured hearts as the aw-shucks (and maybe immortal) Kenneth “The Page” Parcell on 30 Rock, stopped by the real-life building where his fictional show was set to visit the Today show on Jan. 28.

McBrayer was there to promote his upcoming movie You’re Cordially Invited, where he plays the manager of an event venue that accidentally double-booked two separate weddings. Along with chatting about the film, he also spoke about how “so much of what we did” on 30 Rock was really filmed in the building.

“It’s kind of like when you go back to your high school and everything smells the same,” he mused before host Jenna Bush Hager asked him about some other notable jobs he’s had in the past.

Along with working at a swimming pool liner factory, he “waited tables at a restaurant called Po’ Folks,” and was “the employee of the month at Applebee’s” in July 1994.

“I peaked! I peaked,” he declared with a laugh.

This isn’t the first time McBrayer has spoken about his experiences as a waiter on a talk show. In a 2012 appearance on Conan, the actor told host Conan O’Brien about working at Po’ Folks.

“It was all fried food and it was homestyle cooking, but you know, they’d have fly strips hanging from the ceiling,” he said before joking, “you should go there, y’all!”

The Today show shared a photo on Instagram of McBrayer when he worked at Applebee’s and fans were delighted by the image, commenting “He is such a doll,” and calling him “The best.”

Even the Applebee’s official account chimed in to say “That tracks.”

McBrayer also bonded with Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman, who was guest-hosting on the fourth hour of Today, after she noted that she’s from Georgia like him. “We are probably related,” he teased. “We’re probably like fourth or fifth cousins,” she quipped back.
