24 Iconic TV And Movie Dads We’ll Love Until The End Of Time
In honor of Father's Day, we asked the BuzzFeed Community to share their favorite TV and movie dads who they'll always love. Here are some of their answers:
1.Fa Zhou from Mulan
"He never scolded her or made her feel bad for being an 'unworthy daughter.' After the bad meeting with the matchmaker, he even tells her that the flower that blooms later will be the most beautiful of all. At the end of the movie, when he told her the greatest gift was to have her for a daughter, it made me cry. I'm Chinese as well, and fathers are, culturally, not supposed to be close with their daughters or say I love you to them, but he basically told her he loved her more than anything."
2.Burt Hummel from Glee
"He was so supportive of Kurt, always looked out for him, and was kind and loving. He also treated Finn like his own son, too. He’s one of the least problematic characters from the whole show."
3.Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
"He was the perfect TV Dad. He stood up for his kids (and his nephew), supported his wife, and taught us what it means to have integrity and morals."
—34, Los Angeles
4.Sam Perlman from Call Me By Your Name
"He will always be my favorite movie dad. I love the unconditional love he shows his son — not even questioning his sexuality — and he understands him and guides him. I wish I had that."
5.Bob Belcher from Bob’s Burgers
"He’s an amazing dad, his kids adore him, he’s ridiculously sweet, and he has endless patience."
6.Phil Dunphy from Modern Family
"Loving, supportive, and always completely true to himself. He never forces his kids to be anything they’re not, and the appreciation he has for all of them is so heartwarming."
7.Marlin from Finding Nemo
"There’s a line in the movie where some fish says about Marlin, 'That’s one dedicated father.' I think this line sums him up perfectly. He almost dies twice for Nemo, but he keeps going to find him. He learned how to ‘just keep swimming’ exactly right!"
—20, Minnesota
8.Charles Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie
"Like his real-life counterpart, he did not dissuade his girls from having a real education and career. His girls worked as hard in the fields as he did. He was never belittling or patronizing — he was an amazing man for his time. This is true in the fictional or real story of the Ingalls family. He was fair and open-minded."
9.Hopper from Stranger Things
10.Gomez Addams from The Addams Family
"He loves his family so much."
11.Jack Pearson from This Is Us
—21, Mumbai, India
12.Pruitt Herrera from Station 19
"He always loved and helped Andy, but never coddled her. He raised her by himself to be a strong woman and firefighter. I cried when he sacrificed himself to save his daughter and crew from the warehouse fire."
13.Mr. Ping from Kung Fu Panda
"He's just one of the best movie dads ever: the love he has for Po, the ridiculous things he’ll go through to support him, and his adorable attempts at hiding from this giant panda that he — a goose — is not his real father. I adore him."
14.Beef Tobin from The Great North
"Voiced by Nick Offerman, he really puts all his kids first after their mom skipped town. Super heartwarming."
15.Michael Kyle from My Wife and Kids
"I liked that his punishments were sneaky little lessons for his kids to learn. Although they got in trouble a lot, especially Junior, it was cool to see a dad invested in his kids in a comedy."—39, Florida
16.Sandy Cohen from The O.C.
"He's the best dad ever! He's tough but fair, compassionate, and relatable!"—37, New Hampshire
17.Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb
"His childhood was literal hell on Earth and he had some of the worst parents ever, but he is still a good and loving dad to his daughter, Vanessa."
18.Joey Washington from All About The Washingtons
"He’s such a family man and is hilarious."
—Taylor, 22, North Carolina
19.Carlisle from Twilight
"He was very welcoming and accepting to Bella, and then when she was pregnant, he took care of her and monitored her health."
20.Gary Grooberson from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
"I watched the films the other day and Paul Rudd’s character in the new Ghostbusters films is AMAZING. I love the way he supports and respects Phoebe even when he’s just her teacher, how he is on her side from day one — defending her 'weirdness' even to her mum — and just being this incredible source of support for this girl who’s dad left because he couldn’t connect with her. Their connection was everything to me. He may not have been her Dad by blood, but he is absolutely proof that blood isn’t what makes a dad, actions are."
21.Samuel from Two is a Family
"He is the most loving father I have ever seen (on and off screen). Perhaps a bit Peter Pan, but would literally die for his daughter. Without spoiling much, he really made every moment of her life an adventure, especially after being abandoned by her mother, and nothing beats that kind of love."
22.Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls
"He was a great dad to April, even though he didn’t know she existed for like 12 years, and he fought really hard for custody. He was also a strong parental figure for Rory, even when things weren’t great between him and Lorelai."
—21, Long Island
23.Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine
"This might not count, but Captain Holt is my favorite 'dad.' He is a great leader for his team and a loving father figure. He always challenges Jake, Amy, Rosa, Charles, Terry, and Gina to grow and be better than they can be. He also learns to grow with them and aspires to be more than simply the captain of their precinct."
24.Stanley Tucci from Easy A
"He’s hilarious and he really cared for his children no matter what. I feel like it would be such a blast to be a part of that family."—35, Georgia
