Zayn Malik Reschedules U.S. Stairway to the Sky Tour After Postponing Following Liam Payne's Death
The pop star has changed the dates to early 2025
Zayn Malik has rescheduled his U.S. tour dates after postponing them following the death of his One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne.
The pop star, 31, announced on Instagram Stories that he will now kick off the postponed leg of his first-ever headlining tour in support of his fourth solo record, Room Under the Stairs, with a Jan. 21 show at the Anthem in Washington, followed by two shows in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Malik will then perform dates in Los Angeles and Las Vegas before winding down the run with a Feb. 3 concert at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
The "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" musician was originally set to launch his U.S. tour dates in October and November of this year.
But on Saturday, Oct. 19, Malik posted on Instagram Stories that the U.S. leg of his Stairway to the Sky tour was being put on hold in the wake of Payne's death at age 31 on Oct. 16.
"Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour," the "Dusk Till Dawn" singer said of the shows, which were slated to start on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Malik continued: "The dates are being rescheduled for January and I'll post them as soon as it's all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates."
"Love you all and thank you for your understanding," he concluded.
Malik is still set to perform in the U.K. next month, beginning with a pair of gigs on Nov. 20-21 at the O2 Academy Edinburgh, followed by concerts in Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton and Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Payne died earlier this month after falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Before his death, the "Sunshine" artist was "trashing" his hotel room, according to a 911 call made by hotel staff. A preliminary autopsy report said that he died from "internal and external" hemorrhages.
