'Yellowstone' Fans Are Still Swooning Over Lainey Wilson's Storyline
Lainey Wilson has had a whirlwind year and she made sure it was known in her final Yellowstone cameo during Sunday night’s season 5 finale episode.
As Season 5 neared its end, showrunner Taylor Sheridan took the time to wrap up key character plot lines, as was evident by Colby’s death. At one point during the finale episode, the camera panned to a scene at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas, where Abby (Lainey) was performing “Hang Tight Honey” to a seemingly sold-out crowd. While on stage, Abby was wearing Lainey’s signature bells, as well as a “Whirlwind”-branded cowboy hat nodding to her latest album. After her set, in which she saw Ryan (Ian Bohen) up front and center in the crowd, she met up with him, wondering what he was doing down in Texas. When he told her that he’d made the wrong choice by not following her before when he’d had the chance, shock swept across her face before she ultimately kissed him and welcomed him to life with her on the road.
All in all, it was a sweet way to send off the cute country couple. Knowing just how much fans adore Lainey and her love story on the show, though, Yellowstone creators didn’t stop there. On Monday, December 16, the show’s Instagram page posted a reel showcasing Lainey and Ian getting into character for their scene, all to the tune of “4x4xU,” a song Lainey wrote for her real-life beau, Duck Hodges.
“We’re going anywhere Abby and Ryan are going,” the account captioned the post, perhaps hinting at their future in the Yellowstone universe, whether it be on 6666 or the yet-to-be-named Beth and Rip spin-off. In any event, fans were elated to have even more adorable Abby and Ryan content.
“Loved to see them get back together in last night’s episode! If her real-life boyfriend doesn’t work out, I hope they get together! Love them sooo much,” one fan exclaimed. “I was so happy you appeared in the last episode,” another of Lainey’s fans commented. “One of my favorite parts of last night's episode,” someone else remarked. “This was a perfect ending for them,” another Instagrammer chimed in.
We can’t help but wonder though: Is it really the end? You never know in the Taylorverse.
