Wynonna Earp Stars Tease Tubi Reunion Special, ‘Really High’ Stakes Against Terrifying New Foe — Watch
There is a gunfight sequence, glimpsed in the trailer for Tubi’s 90-minute Wynonna: Earp Vengeance special, that in full is pretty damn cool.
But to hear series star Melanie Scrofano tell it, filming the scene was more than cool. It was painfully frigid.

“It was freezing,” Scrofano recalls in the TVLine video Q&A above. And that is no small claim coming from a veteran of 49 episodes filmed for Syfy up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
“That day, the camera stopped working,” Scrofano stresses. “For the first time ever, my hand froze to the [Peacemaker] gun.” Going without gloves, because of a tender Wynonna/Doc moment that follows, “was the worst mistake,” she admits.
In Wynonna Earp: Vengeance — penned by series creator Emily Andras, directed by Paolo Barzman and arriving Friday, Sept. 13 — the titular demon-slaying great-great-granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp must return to her hometown of Purgatory in order to battle her greatest foe yet: Mina (played by Karen Knox), a psychotic villainess hellbent on revenge against Wynonna… and everyone she loves.
In addition to Scrofano as Wynonna, returning cast from the four-season Syfy series include — but are not limited to! — Tim Rozon (as Doc Holliday), Dominique Provost-Chalkley (Waverly Earp), Katherine Barrell (Nicole Haught), Greg Lawson (Nedley) and Dani Kind (Mercedes Gardner).
In the video Q&A above, Scrofano and Rozon tease what Wynonna and Doc have been up to ever since putting Purgatory in the rear view mirror at the close of the Syfy series’ run, and how one of them now is a bit “antsy” to “slow down” their “endless adventure” away from home.
Scrofano then gives a sense of how “the stakes are really high” due to Mina’s arrival and the unique threat she represents to Wynonna & Co. “With everything that’s at stake, Wynonna is terrified,” says Scrofano. “She never knew she could be so scared.”
Scrofano and Rozon also talk about slipping back into their Earping roles after three years away, if Wynonna and Doc are keeping things “spicy,” and whether #WayHaught fans will be served well by the 90-minute special.
