Controversial trend divides TikTok
A TikTik user is boldly attempting to bring back a divisive fashion trend that was left behind in the late 2000s.
Gabriella Ellyse, who posts videos under the username @gabriellaellyse, has shared several clips of herself sporting denim shorts with an extreme low-rise waist that rose to popularity about 15 years ago.
The belly-baring style — which features a tiny zip fly and frayed hems — was the off-duty wardrobe staple for noughties starlets Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan.
But as we headed into the 2010s, low-waist 'Daisy Dukes' faded out and were replaced by the more comfortable and, some would say, more flattering mid to high-waist shorts and jeans.

Gabriella seems to have made it her mission to revive the hip-hugger style, declaring in a video back in June that she was "bringing low rise back".
Since then, she's shared clips of herself wearing a variety of teeny-tiny shorts that some of her followers describe as 'jean underwear' and even a 'jean-kini'.
Fellow TikTok users are divided over the barely-there bottoms, with some declaring, "Low rise is the best" and, "Low rise is the new hi-rise."
Others are far less keen on the throwback look, stating, "Do not bring this back" and "Absolutely not."
