Wills 'pleaded with Kate to give him a second chance'
Prince William and Kate Middleton are the picture of bliss when they step out at royal events, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge lovingly gazing at each and giggling at private jokes.
After an almost decade-long marriage and three adorable children, it’s pretty safe to say they’re couple goals.
But long-time fans will be aware the pair’s relationship wasn’t always without its troubles, most notably when they split for several months back in 2007.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have only once spoken publicly about the breakup - during their engagement interview - speculation as to what catalysed their reunion has always been rife.
Changing history
But now royal expert, Katie Nicholl, has claimed she’s pinpointed the moment which altered the Windsor dynasty’s history, in her new book, Kate: The Future Queen.
In the read, Katie detailed the prince’s attempts to get back with his girlfriend of five years, which first began in the weeks after he initiated their split in early 2007.
First, the couple are said to have met up at Prince Charles’ official residence, Clarence House before enjoying an evening at a pub near Highgrove - the Wales’ country estate.
"Kate didn't want to rush anything. She had been badly hurt and told William she needed some time," the book read.
However, just weeks later, William invited his ex to a costume party at his army barracks - to which Kate responded with enthusiasm.
"[Kate was] dressed as a nurse - a rather sexy one in fishnet tights and a short dress," Katie claimed.
Back together
Naturally, the prince was enthralled by his stunning ex-girlfriend’s bold new look and reportedly ‘followed her around like a lost puppy all night.
Just months after their flirty reunion, Kate famously attended the Concert for Diana, organised by William to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his mother’s death.
For many, the appearance was confirmation of a reunion - something that was solidified when the now-duchess watched her boyfriend graduate from the RAF the following year.
The longtime couple eventually became engaged in late 2010 before their Westminster Abbey wedding in April the following year.
