Why 'Outlander' Isn't Airing on STARZ This Week
There’s a mini-Droughtlander taking place this week on STARZ when no new episode from the second half of Season 7 of Outlander airs. Fans of the epic romance, time-travel drama, based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, are going to have to wait until next Friday for the series finale due to a scheduling issue.

When Episode 716, entitled “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” does air on Friday, Jan. 17, Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips) must perform a dangerous operation with the skills he’s learned from Claire (Caitríona Balfe) to save her life. Claire was shot in the abdomen at the end of the last episode as she tended wounded soldiers. And Captain Leckie (Ben Cura), who, finally admitted that Claire is a fine surgeon, has left her to bleed out because he doesn’t know how to perform the required surgery. But Denzell aided Claire when she did the abdominal surgery on Lord John’s (David Berry) nephew Henry (Harry Jarvis), so he’s going to attempt it. Jamie (Sam Heughan) has resigned from his commission as a general in the Revolutionary Army to stay by her side.
Also, in the "A Hundred Thousand Angels” episode, William (Charles Vandervaart) turns to an unexpected source in his mission to rescue Jane (Silvia Presente), who has been arrested for the murder of Captain Harkness (Adam Jackson-Smith) and is going to be hanged.
Season 8, the final season of Outlander, has already wrapped filming but STARZ has yet to announce its release date, which should be sometime later this year.
When Outlander returns on Jan. 17, new episodes will premiere at midnight ET on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms each Friday. On linear broadcast, it will debut on STARZ Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET in the U.S.
