Meghan Markle is embracing her royal surname thanks to a little encouragement from fellow celebrity Drew Barrymore. In a new preview for her March 6 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Duchess was introduced by the host as Meghan Sussex. It was a significant moment of recognition for the former actress, who rarely does televised interviews and who has been the Duchess of Sussex since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

"This is the Fast Five with Meghan Sussex!" Barrymore announced, after which the pair played a game of rapid-fire questions that touched on her life with the Duke, raising their two children, Archie and Lilibet, and some good old-fashioned Suits trivia.

As far as the Sussex name is concerned, Markle actually explained its significance in depth during an interview with People to promote her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

"It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children," she said. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."

“I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’" Markle continued. "I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex."

This isn't the first time Markle has highlighted the significance of her new name. In the second episode of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess actually corrected Mindy Kaling after she calls her friend by her maiden name, Markle.

"It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now," the Duchess said.

"You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children,'" she mused. "I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name, our little family name."
