The actor, 61, opened up about the unexpected challenges that came with shooting the highly anticipated third installment on location in Thailand, telling Time about the unrelenting heat and how record-breaking temperatures affected the cast and crew's wellbeing.
The outlet reported that many of the crew members "fell ill" and the set was "littered with ice coolers and sachets of isotonic powder" to help them cool down. While filming indoors, air conditioners had to be turned off while cameras were rolling in order to eliminate background noise. Time also reported that the cast would even use hairdryers to dry their sweat patches.

"It would be churlish to complain — there are terrible things going on in the world — but we’ve all had enough.” he added.
Despite the hardships the cast endured, Issacs noted that working with series creator and director Mike White was a joy.

Jason Issacs (left) and Mike White“He wants actors to be able to show themselves,” he explained. “It’s an odd paradox that he both wrote it all so precisely and is also prepared to throw it all away and give it over to the actors and just stir the pot.”
He continued, “Mike shrieks with laughter so much that he ruins the take, but you’re thrilled that you get to do it again. Then he sits behind the monitor like some kind of satanic imp, throwing out even more outrageous lines, things that you’re almost blushing to say, but he just pushes things further and further."
"You just trust that in the edit he’ll find the right tone," he smiled.

While specific plot details of The White Lotus season 3 have been kept tightly under wraps, White previously confirmed that the next installment will have a spiritual theme.
"The first season we highlighted money and then the second season is sex and I think the third season, it would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality — it feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus," he said.
