Despite the fact that most early 2000s trends didn't survive the decade, one relic of the bygone era has made its way back into the zeitgeist: Heidi Pratt and Leighton Meester's pop music. The erstwhile singers, both of whom lost their homes in the devastating L.A. wildfires, have been experiencing a resurgence thanks to fans who want to support their recovery.

It all started when Spencer and Heidi Pratt revealed their home had burned down in the Pacific Palisades Fire. Apparently, the couple did not have homeowners insurance, and they lost almost everything.

“Spencer was like ‘Grab anything you want to keep,’ ” Heidi told Good Morning America. “And I was like, ‘How do you choose?’ You know? My brain stopped working because I was so overwhelmed with so many things you can’t replace. So I grabbed my kids’ teddy bears.”

Fans of the couple, who rose to fame on MTV's The Hills, soon rallied and started streaming Heidi's music. The singer's 2010 album, titled Superficial, quickly reached #1 on iTunes charts.

"Thank you for the overwhelming love and support of my music and really rallying behind us in this devastating time and making it such a blessing," Heidi said in a video posted to TikTok. "Thank you for helping support us, helping build us back up, helping to encourage us, give us that hope and faith and excitement in such a dark, dark time."

Of course, the Pratts weren't the only celebrities to lose their home. Fellow early aughts stars Adam Brody and Leighton Meester also lost their house, and though the couple does not have social media, that didn't stop fans (including Flavor Flav) from offering their support.

"Starting to hype up my girl Leighton Meester and help her family recover from the fire," Flav wrote on TikTok.

Podcast host Gibson Jones echoed the sentiment on X: "Can the internet also do what it did for Heidi Montag’s criminally underrated old music to Leighton Meester’s incredibly underappreciated pop music? Her house also burned down and that music deserves its time in the sun!!!"

Along with Pratt and Meester, Mandy Moore and Paris Hilton also lost their homes in the wildfires. Other celebrities, meanwhile, have begun donating clothes and money to aid in relief efforts. More than 170,000 L.A. residents are under evacuation orders as of Friday morning, according to CNN.
